Italia - Personal

In June the boy and I spent a week in Italy. We got mega cheap flights with Ryan Air and flew into Pisa. Our plans were to spend 3 nights in Pisa and then catch the train to Florence. We arrived in Pisa in the late evening with a festival just ending. I was gutted I missed the festival as it was to do with light and candles lined all of the windows of the buildings and the river Arno.

We rented an apartment in Pisa on the river through airbnb. These apartments tend to work out cheaper than hotels and we've used Airbnb 4 times now with no issues. If you decide to sign up, put my name down and we will both get money off...yay!

Anyway our apartment was cute and was in an excellent location. We spent our days in Pisa visiting the tower, wondering around the hidden squares, eating and more eating. I was a little concerned about visiting Pisa after people reviews of it didn't seem that great, it turns out I actually loved Pisa and will be going back soon!

We then caught the train to Florence which was simple enough, we again rented an apartment through airbnb that was located outside The Duomo and had a beautiful painted ceiling in the bedroom. Florence was manic compared to Pisa with so many tourists every where you turned. We did venture out on the sightseeing tour bus to get our bearings on the first day, it took us up the mountains and to a small village at the top! It was worth the money :) If you are planning on visiting Florence I would suggest going in the Spring or Autumn to try and avoid some of the crowds and queues.

I am missing Italy already and planning our next trip back there soon! Ciao!
